The Worlds Most ‘Professional’ Phone? – Durability Test!

the phone in front of us today costs a whopping 2 500 the sony xperia pro no extra numbers no really long name just a really long price tag this might very well be the only real professional phone in existence and for that price it better be inside the box we get a usbc cable 18 watt charging brick and some corded headphones that have a headphone jack that right there might be worth two thousand dollars to some people it's always a little annoying when the charging cable that's included with the box is the short and stubby little guy that can barely reach anything personally for the last three years i've been using one of these super long six foot usbc cables next to my bed from my channel sponsor anchor and it's pretty amazing right now you can get two of these super long six foot usb-c cables with a lifetime warranty for just 15 bucks at the link in the description i'm not sure if that price is a typo or not but you might want to jump on it before anchor notices what they've done at twenty five hundred dollars this is one of the most expensive phones we've ever tested here on jerry rig everything it's definitely a professional price tag and while i am indeed a professional i don't think i'm quite the type of professional this phone was built for let's get started [Music] [Applause] [Music] right off the bat the first thing i notice about this phone is that it feels and looks like it's sitting inside of a built-in protective case it's got a lightweight textured plastic exterior the second thing i notice is the screen this is one of the only phones in existence with a 4k resolution display which is pretty awesome i'm able to see these tiny footprints in the snow or the detail on the trees without the pixels getting in the way that's pretty incredible the xperia pro display is forty percent more detailed than an iphone 12 pro screen with a screen that's nice it would be a real shame if someone scratched it but i'll take one for the team if you listen really closely you can also hear that there's no camera bump on the back the xperia pro is primarily designed to be a second monitor for the sony dslr camera while at the same time using its 5g internal antennas to live stream or upload the high quality imagery to the internets which is a unique combination of characteristics we'll talk about that more in a second but the important thing is is that the gorilla glass 6 scratches at a level six with deeper grooves at a level seven the display is also super long with its 21×9 aspect ratio and up here at the very top it has an 8 megapixel selfie camera tucked into the bezel right there next to the earpiece slit the earpiece doesn't have any exterior grilles the sides of the phone are more rugged than usual and are made out of a hard rough textured plastic you might have noticed that there's also a plethora of buttons along the side the bottom button is a textured camera button that can activate the camera to take pictures just like a shutter button right above that we have a programmable button that can activate any app or start up its external monitor features both of which are made from metal above that we have the recessed power button which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner we'll get back to that then up top we have the volume rocker which is also made from metal the xperia logo is just overlaid and painted onto the plastic and will probably eventually rub off in your pocket the pro part of that logo is inlaid three dimensionally and is the only part of the branding that won't rub off on its own up at the top of the phone we do have that headphone jack it's kind of strange that in order to get a headphone jack on your phone these days you either gotta spend two thousand dollars or two hundred the right side of the phone has no buttons just more textured plastic it does have a sim and sd card tray that does not need a removal tool it can pull out with just your fingers it makes it much easier to swap memory cards which is a pretty professional feature you might also have noticed that this phone has an ip rating of ip65 ip68 kind of strange and that's because down here at the bottom things start getting weird alongside the normal usbc port there is a full on micro hdmi port this is how the xperia pro gets its high quality 4k 60fps footage imported from the full frame dslr for streaming over 5g if you understood all that congrats on being hip lit with your gucci on fleek and if you're a little lost well there's always bingo knight long story short this phone is ip68 when the flap is closed and when it's open it's only ip65 so be careful on the back of the xperia pro it does have some cameras of its own a 12 megapixel telephoto lens a 12 megapixel wide angle lens a 3d time-of-flight depth camera and then down at the bottom we have the 12 megapixel main camera nothing super crazy special or out of the ordinary but sony is really good at making cameras it's kind of their thing the nfc pad is located in the center of the back panel right underneath this symbol here there is no wireless charging now sony has been around for a really long time they are one of the largest companies in the world they've got their logo subtly recessed into the back of the phone one of sony's very first products they ever made was a transistor radio back in 1955 then in 1957 they made the world's smallest portable radio that really took off putting sony on the map the name sony is derived from the latin word for sound which makes sense since they were you know making radios before all that though one of their very first products ever [Music] was a rice cooker which is what you see here bet you didn't see that one coming personally i for one am glad sony branched out and explored new markets the back panel of the xperia pro does look to be glued down and is water resistant sony phones are normally notoriously difficult and complicated to take apart but maybe this time will be different make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss the teardown the screen is still my favorite part of the phone with 10 bits of color and 4k resolution it all sounds super impressive until you remember that last year's xperia 1 mark ii also had a 10 bit 4k display and it only cost a thousand dollars this might hurt sony's feelings but i think that if you don't need the very very specific ability to live stream bingo knight in full-frame 4k 60 fps then last year's mark ii is definitely the better choice of cell phone the oled does last 25 seconds under the heat from my lighter though finally the xperia pro does have a side mounted capacitive fingerprint reader i've already scratched it once and for the most part it still works to read my finger if i add a few more scratches after the fingerprint is set it still manages to function most of the time just not all the time finally the bin test i'm a big fan of the rugged design on this xperia pro the recessed camera lens and textured plastic back make for a much more durable phone design with less exposed glass parts to break structurally when bent from the back there is a slight curve to the phone which since it's so long it's kind of expected but it does lock out and doesn't break when bent from the front we get the same thing a slight bend but the 2 500 smartphone holds strong and stays in one piece not too shabby interesting how the most rugged looking phone that we've tested in quite a while is also the most expensive by far it's like a sleeper phone moral of the story though if you really need a 4k display just grab last year's xperia mark ii the rest of us will be just fine with all the other phones that have professional in the name but are actually just pretending the people this phone was really built for are probably all still out there working right now while you're watching this video they're out there being all professional and stuff with no time for the internet or a computer you Razer Phone 2 Teardown – The Vapor Chamber is Incredibly Cool

The Razer Phone 2 is one of the coolest phones
I've taken apart in a very long time. Wait till you see this vapor chamber – it's
incredibly impressive. The clear version I made was cosmetically
disappointing, but the guts of this phone more than make up for it. It's time to review the Razer Phone 2 from
the inside. Let's get started. [Intro] One good thing about having the clear version,
is now you can actually watch how deep my knife penetrates every time I remove back
glass covers from phones. All I ever use is the tip. Any deeper, and fragile stuff might get damaged…like
the battery or the power ribbons. The Razer Phone 2 has 10 screws holding the
top plastic plate over the motherboard. The screws are different, so I'm keeping them
organized as I set them off to the side. Then the plastic lifts up just enough for
me to unsnap the back LED panel Lego-style ribbon connector. And the whole thing can be removed from the
phone. The RGB pad is pretty interesting, especially
since it only illuminates specifically around the snake logo when the phone is turned on.

Apple really dropped the ball by not making
their Apple logo glow on the back of the iPhones. I'll pull off the metal bracket over the battery
and charging port plugs and set that off to the side. And then I'll unclip the battery. The bottom half of the phone has another 10
screws, once again, all different sizes. And then amazingly, the whole battery and
wireless charging combo very easily unfolds out of the phone, exposing part of the massive
copper vapor chamber.

And Marquez will be happy to see a larger
and stronger vibrator this year. It's not taptic, but should still get the
job done. The battery is a 4000 milliamp hour monster,
and very much appreciated that it's not strapped in next to the fragile electronics with a
ridiculous amount of adhesive. Now let's finish unburying the ginormous copper
vapor chamber. There are 2 screws holding on the motherboard. I'll unsnap the charging port ribbon with
my plastic pry tool, along with the side button ribbon, like a little Lego. Then I'll unplug the 3 little wire cables
along the right side – there are a lot of those this year. The SIM and expandable memory card tray are
next. I'll pop that out of the phone and get the
little wire cable on the left side unplugged, as well as the front facing camera. Then the motherboard can lift up and out of
the phone body. Still attached is the screen ribbon cable
plugged into the underside of the motherboard. It's got it's own little silver bracket holding
the ribbon in place. I'll set that off to the side. The gob of thermal paste you see is right
over top of the processor on this phone.

The processor is the part that generates the
most heat. The paste helps transfer that heat to the
top left corner of the copper vapor chamber. The rear cameras are also plugged into the
motherboard. We have our normal 12 megapixel lens with
optical image stabilization. And an additional camera with 2x optical zoom
– the perfect combo. I'll let other reviewers handle the comparisons
and see whether the pictures are good or not.

But hardware wise, this is the ideal setup. The front facing camera has quite a lot of
adhesive holding it in place. It's an 8 megapixel little guy. And now for the top stereo speaker. The Razer Phone is known for it's iconically
large speaker grilles, but interestingly enough, the speakers inside aren't that much larger
than normal. Size-wise the speakers are a bit bigger than
the Pixel 3, but not by much. It does have it's own waterproof mesh over
top with a rubber ring to help keep a tight seal against the phone body. But the interesting thing is the tail end
of the speaker. When you mount a large speaker, like a subwoofer,
it's usually placed inside of a box so the speaker has room to move. A lot of cellphones have speakers in such
a tight box that there's no room for movement so they sound terrible. That's not the case with the Razer Phone. The Razer Phone's earpiece has it's own box
with a large air chamber off to the side that allows for speaker movement. It's pretty cool.

I'll just put this back where it came from. The two little square watertight microphone
mesh slots have green rubber on them. It probably wasn't intentional but it still
looks cool. The vapor chamber is still covered up by some
ribbons from down here on the charging port. There are 2 screws holding the board in place. And then an additional 2 screws on the USB-C
port portion. Then the whole thing pulls up and out of the
phone. It's got a little black rubber ring around
the lip of the port, which is good for water resistance, as well as minimizing stress on
the port itself when it gets plugged in.

The bottom speaker, still smaller than you
might think when compared to the outer grille size, also has it's own air compartment right
next to the speaker. And it has it's own water resistant mesh over
top. And finally we're here: the vaper chamber. Basically the whole area inside of the phone. This copper heat sink is pretty awesome. Having a copper plate this large inside of
a phone is already a huge boost to thermal performance over aluminum or steel. But, as I was removing the plate, you can
tell how thick it is.

Basically as the processor heats up the top
left corner of the vapor chamber, the vapor inside also heats up and carries the heat
away to the far side of chamber, where it cools down into liquid and then flows back
to repeat the process. It's kind of like a heat pipe on steroids. Basically a whole radiator for your phone. Pretty fascinating. And you know me, we aren't going to let this
pass by without exploring the inside.

Peeling back the copper, we actually see physical
liquid, not just gas. Little droplets covering the inside of the
copper envelope. I mean, copper along would probably have been
sufficient. But copper combined with liquid and channels
for airflow is seriously some next level stuff. It's like a waterbed inside of your cellphone. Razer is taking smartphone cooling to the
next level. If you like seeing stuff like this, make sure
you're subscribed. You can see that the half currently opened
up is already evaporated.

But this new flap has all the liquid droplets
still inside. Technology is impressive, and Razer definitely
gets a thumbs up for this one. I don't think I'll be able to reuse the chamber
now that it's been opened up. I don't want any sharp metal edges up against
the underside of my battery. The phone will still work without the copper,
it just won't be as efficient under heavy workloads. The chamber is seriously pretty cool. The 120 Hertz screen can be replaced if needed,
but it's glued into the metal body of the phone, so we'll leave it alone for now since
screens don't normally survive the removal process. I'll get the loud speaker tucked back into
place, and the charging port, along with all of it's screws and associated wire cables.

Before I can set the motherboard back down
though, it needs the screen ribbon cable plugged into the underside, screwed in and secured
with it's silver bracket. Then it's ready to be set down into the phone. I haven't turned on this phone in a while. Pretty sure it's dead from the LED flashing
on the back for a few days.

We'll find out in a second. I'll plug in the large charging port ribbon
cable, clips in like a little Lego, as well as the power button ribbon on the left side. Then the whole cool looking battery wireless
charging contraption can slide back onto the phone. Now that I've seen the insides, I'm way more
impressed with the Razer Phone 2. I'll plug in the LED RGBs, add the metal bracket
over the battery connector, and set down the protective plastics over the motherboard. We should be good to go. I'll plug it in while I get the new back glass
into place. Razer has outdone themselves this year with
the cooling system. And there's definitely a new standard in town

Surface Duo first look: Microsoft’s foldable Android phone

– Remember Windows Phone
from way back when? Well Microsoft is kind
of getting back into making smartphones. This is Surface Duo, and it runs Android. Not Windows or Windows Phone. That's right. Microsoft is making a
Surface phone with Android. If that sounds surprising, it's because it really is. But we'll get back into the Android side in a minute. Duo is part of two new futuristic dual-screen devices that
Microsoft announced today. And they're coming in Holiday 2020. Surface Duo has two 5.6 inch displays that fold out into an
8.3 inch device overall. And it's just 4.8 millimeters thin. It folds like many two-in-one laptops thanks to a 360 degrees hinge. And it's designed to
get more done on the go. It looks tiny for this type of device, and it felt kind of like a Galaxy Note in my pocket. Now, I wasn't allowed to play around with the software on this device, but it looks and feels
like a tiny pocket tablet that's also a phone. The difference between this and any other Android phone, except maybe the Galaxy Fold, is visually obvious.

But Microsoft thinks this is part of a new category of devices that allow people to do a lot more with tablets and phones
than they do today. As part of this idea, Microsoft also announced a
Surface Neo device today. Which has two larger 9 inch displays. The Duo and the Neo share a very similar design, but they don't share a
common operating system. Neo, the larger dual-screen device, runs Windows 10 X, and has all your familiar
desktop and tablet apps. The reason this isn't
running Windows Phone is because Microsoft gave up on that operating system years ago, when it couldn't convince developers to create apps for it's devices. Now we sat down with Microsoft's Chief Product Officer, Panos Panay, on the Vergecast this week, to talk about why Microsoft
chose Android this time for the Surface Duo.

– [Panay] Well because, those are the apps you want. I don't know how to answer it differently for you. Because there's hundreds
of thousands of apps and you want them. Asati and I talked about it, it's about meeting our
customers where they are. And I don't think the, you know, the mobile application platform's going anywhere any time soon, you need the apps. – So you'll get the apps you'd expect from a phone inside
the dual-screen device, but how is this different from any other smartphone? I mean it obviously looks different. And the main idea is making use of these two displays in ways we're only starting to see other Android phone makers explore. You could run a game on one side, and a game pad on the other, or multi-task by dragging
and dropping content between apps. Microsoft hasn't thought
of everything you'd do with the Surface Duo just yet, but that's why it's announcing it now so developers can fill in the gaps.

They're really aiming to introduce a new form factor here, and a way for a device to
adjust itself on the go, no matter the task. We've seen foldable devices from Huawei and Samsung, but the Duo has two separate displays that are made of glass, rather than foldable plastic. Which given the issues
with Samsung's Galaxy Fold, that might be a good choice right now. Microsoft has been
working on this hardware for three years, and Panos Panay tells us that this device won't change much by the time it debuts late next year.

The real key question will be whether Android app developers create the apps and
experiences that really take advantage of this dual-screen device. And whether consumers
want this type of hardware in a phone form factor in the first place. That's why Microsoft also has its largest Surface Neo device running Windows. And it really feels like the company wants to offer a Surface at every shape and size. Microsoft also seems to be implying that the operating system really doesn't matter for
Surface devices anymore.

And it's willing to partner
with Google and others to offer what makes sense. So does that means that
Android is the future for Microsoft? – [Panay] (clears throat)
No no no no no no. You want to give customers what they want in the form factor that they're using. We've learned this, you know, the right operating system
on the wrong product or the other way around, pick your words, but what's the right operating system for the form factor? And in this case, in mobile devices, Android's
the obvious choice. But anything above that, Windows is everything.

Superior for me. – So, will the Surface
Duo and the Surface Neo combine in the future? Will there be a smartphone
that turns into a tablet, that then turns into a laptop, then you dock and turns into a real PC? We're years away from anything even getting close to that. But it opens up the questions about where this dual-screen and foldable hardware is going exactly. And they're really hard
questions to answer right now. Microsoft will now need to convince app developers and consumers that these dual-screen devices are truly the new device category that we've
all been waiting for.

Wherever things end up, it looks like Microsoft want to be ready at every point with Surface. You want a phone that's a little bit more than a phone that
has an extra display? Surface Duo. You want a tablet that
transforms into a laptop? Surface Neo or Surface Pro. Microsoft is covering
every hardware base here, and it's leaving it up to you to decide what device you actually need.

– [Panay] You know, I think like anything, look at the product you think is most interesting to you and where you think you can be more creative, that's what I would push. And I think this products gonna be there next year. Not in a hurry, you know, hang out. Take photos or do whatever it is you do on your phone today
for a little bit longer and then, see if we can convince you that you can be more
creative on this product. – It's been a crazy day of Surface devices and there's a bunch of hands-on videos you should check out

HTC Magic Mobile Phone – Part 1 – Unboxing & Review

this is the HTC magic I purchased this from a company called shx Limited on eBay and I paid just under 290 pounds for an unlocked HTC magic now although this is vodafone branded they all come unlocked so you can put any SIM card inside one of these handsets now apart from the handset itself you also get we just cut the Box open a really nice little pouch which I'll show you a little bit closer in a minute we also get a warranty statement Quick Start Guide which introduces you to the handset and the user interface also get a UK charger three-pin plug on this end and then on this end a USB connector I also get a hands-free kit it's not a three-and-a-half millimeter audio jack on this end though sir proprietary USB mini USB connection HTC developed so it's a slightly different shape to normal mini USB connector so if you want to use normal earphones or headsets then you're either going to have to buy an adapter or stick with a bluetooth headset you also get a standard USB cable in the box as well so you can charge the handset with your computer or a USB charger or you can use this for connecting the device to your computer for transferring files across as well so now let's take a look at the HTC magic itself now before I move on to shown you the handset in great detail just want to pop back to this little pouch it's a nice soft finish pouch and I just want to show you that it's a really nice fit for the handset now back to the HTC magic it's a very sleek device on this side here all we've got is a rocker switch for the volume controls this is nice slimline switch integrated into the side of the handset the front is the gorgeous 3.2 inch screen which runs a 320 by 480 resolution we also got some extra controls on the bottom of the handset here we have a home button which takes you back to the main home screen menu button which gives you various access to different options depending what application you're using we've got a call start and a call end button the call end button also doubles up as the power on/off button we've also got a back button a search button there and also a trackball which you can also push in acts as an enter button as well this side of the handset is completely clear as is the top and then the bottom just sports that USB connector and the microphone around the back of the handset we have lanyard connector here and we also have the 3.2 megapixel camera so open you just slide down the back and then if I show you under here we've got the 13 hundred and 40 milli amp hour battery which in my test so far has been performing very well indeed is giving me two good days of use between charges in this slot here you can put a micro SD or SDHC memory card the shx deal that I purchased comes with a 2 gigabyte card which is great for getting you started you can add up to 16 gigabytes through that slot there it's also worth mentioning that the HTC magic is quoted on the HTC website for the European version as having 512 megabytes of ROM storage and 192 megabytes of RAM well when I go into my settings here and have a look at the memory usage on the phone it's actually reporting that I've got two hundred and forty three megabytes available so this may well be the 288 megabyte ram version that's available for the rest of the world now don't quote me on that but certainly as far as I can see this could be that 288 megabyte ram version now this HTC magic runs the Android operating system for mobile phones and this is running version 1.5 which is also known as cupcake now what cupcake gives you is three home screens which you can customize as you wish to customize one of the screens we've got a lot of blank space here which is touch and hold and then you get a choice of adding shortcuts widgets folders or wallpapers if I choose widgets then for example I could choose to add a search widget which I can then hold and drag into a new position if I decide that I no longer want this widget then I can drag it into the bin at the bottom of the screen so this allows you to customize your phone as you wish and it makes it very useful to be able to do this because you can put shortcuts to all of your favorite applications on your home screen there things run very smoothly they launch very quickly as well and it really is a joy to use it's loaded with features you've got that 3.2 inch screen you've got the 3.2 megapixel camera on the back you also got Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well and don't forget this GPS built into this handset so look out for my future review of copilot life the sat-nav application running on this HTC magic believe me it runs very nicely so rather than the contract from Vodafone I've got this unlock from SH X and it works perfectly with the O's whose SIM card there was a few settings to change for the APN settings to allow me to access Internet wife's out and about but certainly it's proving to be a very nice phone it comes highly recommended and the Android Marketplace really does make the phone deliver certainly a very similar user experience to the iPhone I should also really be showing you this notification bar at the top now as well as the normal symbols you get on a mobile phone for just run across these at the moment we've got Wi-Fi signal we've also got the fact that I'm in silent mode my mobile network signal strength battery left and also the current time we've also got notifications over here and this acts like a draw that you actually pull down and it tells you I've got one new unread email and I can click into that and go into my email application to get rid of the draw I simply slide it back out of the way it works in a very similar way to the drawer at the bottom which I can put up to reveal all of the icons for my various applications if I scroll down here I can for example go into my shop savvy application and this particular application which I will cover in a separate review allows me to scan in products with the barcode reader and search for better prices to buy the product either locally or online so everything works as I would expect it gives me a viable alternative to the Apple iPhone and for two hundred and 89 pounds or just under that 300-pound mark I'm getting a very nice handset it feels nice to hold it performs very well it's got the same 528 megahertz processor as you'll find in HTC's latest hey everyone this is Dom from tech
advisor here at in for 2019 in Berlin and I'm here with the new asus ROG or
Rog phone to know we see this was announced a month ago so you already
know a bit about it but here at IFA Asus has just announced the pricing and
release info for Europe so that seemed to me like the perfect excuse to stack
it against the first rog phone and see how the two compare and whether you
should be looking at an upgrade if you're an existing rog phone user or if
you don't own either but you're tempted which wants you to go for let's take a
look at the two phones side by side you'll straightaway see that while at first glance they're pretty similar there's actually a big difference
the rog phone 2 which is on the right is a lot taller and a little bit thinner
not a lot but there's a tiny fractional thinness but it feels thinner because
that extra height that's basically because they've gone to a nineteen point
five by nine display ratio in line with most of our flagship rather than the
kind of stockier boxier thing you'll see on the the first rog phone that's not
the only change to the display it's also showed up from ninety Hertz in the first
rock phone up to 120 Hertz in the second one still AMOLED still one millisecond
response time and still HDR – it's now got hdr 10 bit support so like you're already
looking up this is basically one of the best panels you can get on any phone
right now the original rog phone had a great panel
already but 120hz with one millisecond response and HDR I mean this is the only
phone you can buy right now that has a panel like that and it's hard to show on
video but that extra response where it just means everything is super smooth
and fluid whether the jump from 90 to 120 really makes a massive difference I
don't know that's probably gonna be harder to tell where that jump up to 90
is certainly a big deal and that makes both phones very very tempting
rest of the design kind of similar we've got the the fan ad on on both right now
so that blocks a bit of the back of the phone you can see there there's a very
similar aesthetic to the two similar to your camera setup though the specs are
different fingerprint sensor you'll see is gone so it's there on the original
Rog phone not on the rog phone 2 because it's now in
the display otherwise it's got this same sort of
angular cut out but you'll just see it's a little less pronounced on the new
opponent and like even on it like just unlock that lock that area even on the
fan you can see it's changing but there's more space here
it's a quiet of fan but still just as powerful they've both got the RGB
lighting here built on the fan the fan comes in the box by the way you don't
pay extra for that and if you don't have the fan on the the RGB panel on the back
of the phone itself lights up obviously the RGB is all customizable all that
kind of stuff that's pretty much the same between both inside it's also all
change so the original Rog phone Snapdragon 855
very fast to it when it came out the rog phone 2 hasn't just had the
upgrade to the 855 it's gone to the 855 plus an extra optimized
version the 855 so you're getting more than the year's benefits on top of
the eight five five has got another seven percent CPU performance 15 percent
GPU performance plus optimizations for a few specific games between this kind of
perform even faster in those supported titles like asphalt 9 so you're gonna
see like really phenomenal performance that's not even counting the other specs
so Ram – 8 gig in the original rog obviously they've gone up 12 gig total
overkill storage the original rog phone went up to 512 gigabytes previously Asus
announced that the rog phone 2 was also a 512 gigabyte phone we just found out
there's an Ultimate Edition that goes up to one terabyte of storage so you could
be 855 plus processor like the first phone in the world to have that 12
gigabyte RAM you're not gonna find a phone with more RAM than that terabyte
storage you're not gonna point phone with more
storage than that then battery original rock phone four thousand milliamp hours
rogue front to six thousand milliamp hours again outside of going into the
phones made by brands like energizer that are really focused on that kind of
thing you just will not find more battery than that in one phone so this
is like really phenomenal top spec for what you're getting in terms of those
sort of the gaming specific stuff there's been a few tweaks to as I've
already mentioned the fans been changed a bit you can also see this an extra bit
of RGB here on the updated fan there's also a whole range of other accessories
you've got to buy them separately but there's things like be the twin view
which gives you a second screen a bit like the LG V50 but more you know
optimized for gaming purposes that second screen is also 120hz and
comes with its own 5 thousand milliamp hour battery giving you a grand total 11
thousand milliamp hours between the two my favorite is probably the kunai
gamepad or kunai I think it's kunai which basically looks like a kind of set
of switch joycon controllers so you can use it as a remote controller or you
can sort of strap them to the side of the rog phone to turning it into a
basically a little mini switch and you know it doesn't feel quite as flawless
as a switch then there's a little bit of life delay and using it I found though
that may have just been the demo unit here but man like it's great having that
access to really solid physical controls if you just want to use the actual phone
itself both phones have the air triggers which are the little pressure sensitive
sections on here so that when you're holding the phone landscape they
basically serve as shoulder buttons if you want to use it to press down one
thing you'll find on the new rogue phone is there's some extra sensitivity
settings plus there's a new option to sort of slide along rather than just
squeeze in so you get a little bit more control over them we'll also see if we
go into the game center which has a nice you fancy animation we get a few more
options we have specific game profiles we can set there's only one set on this
device as you can see but we get more options here things like setting CPU
performance or refresh rate per game if we go into the console this is pretty
similar to what you've seen before again there's a few more archery options fan
speed RGB lighting options that's basically the same between the two but
there is one final software thing which is a little bit different which is that
if you buy the original road phone you are tied in to this kind of gamer-y
system interface which I actually quite liked I get a lot of flack on the
channel sometimes they're sort of making fun of like things that have too much
for gamer aesthetic I think it kind of works here and I quite like the look at
it but if you don't if you buy the rog phone 2 you can switch that off and
just switch to the Asus ZenUI which is what they use in their zenfone range
it's pretty close to stock Android I can't show you it right now but yeah
it's so much more sort of it's less flashy
it's more casual it might feel more suitable in a professional environment
and then you can switch back to the sort of rog UI when you really want a game
when you're in your free time and speaking of the zenfone final thing I
did talk about cameras briefly they've had a big upgrade so what we've got in
here now is actually the same camera setup you'll find in the zenfone 6 asus's
non-gaming flagship for the year so there's a forty eight megapixel main
lens and then a wide-angle to support it with Sony's flagship flagship sensor in
there powering it all you've got support for 4k video at 60fps a dedicated night
mode all that kind of stuff plus then the selfie camera is that a big boost to
24 megapixels so that will be a lot better for selfies but also given the
gaming thing if you want to stream as stream pushing yourself while you're
gaming also couldn't in the corner it's in a nice bar it's out of the way of
your landscape and it will get a nice angle of you for this at the top so yeah
I mean I'm normally the kind of person who when we're looking at like
year-on-year updates of phones I tend to be a skeptic about operating I tend to
say look stick on the old phone if you've got it or if you're looking to
find you one go with the old one it's going to be cheaper but I'm not she kind
of torn here because they have the same RRP 899 euros so that should mean
799 pounds $899 so that hasn't quite been confirmed just yet if you
want to get the terabyte version of the rog phone 2 that will jump up to 1199 euros so 300 euro difference again I assume the same in dollars and pounds that's a
big jump probably not worth it for most but if you're happy with the regular 512
model like it's the same price the other one will probably took down a bit just
because it's the older one there are so many updates across the board in the rog phone 2 everything like core specs camera design display accessories RGB
lights air triggers everything is better than it was before
and so it's really hard not to look at the first rog phone as proof of concept
and the rog phone 2 as the real deal alright yeah we're here

Vivo Nex Dual Screen – Triple Camera – Durability Test!

Remember that phone from last year with the
motorized pop-up camera – the Vivo Nex S? Well Vivo is back at it again with another
super innovative design, with both a screen on the front and back of their latest flagship. In the box comes with headphones, charger,
and a thick bumper case to protect the phone from drops. It's time to see how much thought Vivo put
into durability. Let's get started. [Intro] This is the second dual screen phone we've
seen. With the Nubia X, switching screens was a
carefully calculated, simultaneous double button press. But with this Vivo phone, pressing one power
button on the right side of the phone will activate whatever side is facing you much
easier. It also has a 3 finger side swipe to switch
between the screens on the go, which is as equally easy. So the whole point of a dual screen phone
is to one, look cool, but also to get rid of an notches or hole punches in the larger
front display. With an additional screen on the back, all
selfies can be done with the higher quality rear main cameras, instead of having lower
quality front cameras taking up space inside of a notch.

The main camera on this phone has 3 LED lights
for better lit pictures. Two of which can activate a circular lunar
ring for more even light during pictures or videos. You know, the same circular lights that YouTubers
might use during makeup tutorials. I'm going to leave the makeup tutorials to
the experts, but a ring light is definitely a cool addition to a cell phone camera. The included case has a solid fit. I always have a case on my personal device,
so I'm glad Vivo added some extra protection in the box. Speaking of protection, there is also an included
plastic screen protector on the front surface. The guys over at Vivo are getting all the
bonus points today. As you know, with my systematic durability
test, we check the scratch resistance of the screen with Mohs scale of hardness.

It's a pretty safe bet that if a company isn't
advertising sapphire, it's probably going to be tempered glass, which is where we start
seeing faint scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7. Vivo was the first manufacturer to come out
with an under display fingerprint scanner, and the same technology is here in this phone
as well. Underneath the front screen, protected by
the front glass, the display shines up onto your fingerprint. And the little sensor underneath the display
can tell if it's your finger or not so you can unlock the phone securely.

With two screens, we need double the testing
since there's twice as much real estate to cover. Let's scratch test the back. Dbrand should start making clear skins for
these dual screen phones. This side as well is covered by a screen protector,
which makes sense. Screen protectors not only stop scratches,
but also add a cushion layer of impact protection so brittle glass doesn't shatter right away
during a drop. This time after testing all the different
levels, we still find tempered glass covering the back panel, resulting in scratches at
6, with deeper grooves at a level 7.

The rear design of the Vivo dual screen phone
is unique. Instead of a metal lip around the camera lens,
the whole circular unit is glass and protrudes just slightly over the top of the rear glass
panel. With it's own little screen protector, the
circular camera lens is very solidly adhered to the rear panel. Even with some prying from my razor blade,
it doesn't want to come off. The back panel, surprisingly, does have it's
own earpiece, a bi-directional earpiece speaker shooting out both the front and the back. This will be fun to see from the inside. It's a thin little sliver, especially here
on the front side, to minimize the bezels. But the grille can come off on it's own. There isn't much adhesive holding it in place.

It's definitely interesting to see speaker
grilles on both sides of the phone. Speaking of sides, the material inside of
this dual screen sandwich is metal, the long volume button, and power buttons are both
made from metal. The bottom of the phone has a loud speaker
and USB-C charging port, along with a dual SIM card tray, with a protective rubber ring
around the opening to help keep water out. The Vivo Nex Dual Display doesn't have an
official IP rating, but it's good to see some steps were taken. This hole is protected and I'll have to check
the other holes from the inside during the teardown.

The far side of the phone is also made from
metal, along with the second tower button with Vivo printed on the surface. And what's this? Dost mine eyes deceive me? A headphone jack. You gotta love a phone with all the features. Another interesting design choice is at the
edge of the screen on both the front and the back are surrounded by a layer of plastic. Plastic as we know is much softer than metal
or glass, so it does provide a nice cushion layer between the hard metal sides and the
clear brittle glass. So if it does happen to get dropped, it might
not break as easy.

It's a good thing, and not something you would
notice at first glance. With the previous dual screen phone I tested,
the Nubia X, it had an LCD front panel, while the smaller rear panel was AMOLED. This phone, the Vivo Nex Dual Display, has
a larger rear screen than the Nubia at 5.5 inches and it's still a 1080p AMOLED. It's kind of sad when you think that the backup
screen on this phone is still higher resolution than Apple's iPhone XR. No permanent marks were left on the display,
even after my lighter was in place for 45 seconds. It might be the dual thickness of the clear
camera lens glass. But even with all that heat, there is no separation
of the rather unique circular lens. There's a 12 megapixel main camera, a 2 megapixel
depth sensor, and another 3D camera called TOF for Time of Flight for facial recognition
are all back here.

The TOF camera has some pretty cool 3D scanning
capabilities. I jumped into the camera app to check it out. It has the standard measure of banana features
that a lot of phones have. But it also has this pretty in depth 3D face
scanning unlocking thing that Vivo claims is better than Apple's. But I think we can all agree that this is
either super creepy or super awesome. Isn't that right, Digital Jerry? [Jerry nods] The front screen is a massive 6.4 inch, no
notch, 1080p AMOLED display. This time with different placement of my lighter,
and without the dual layers of glass, a white burn mark appeared at about 27 seconds and
never did quite recover. And now for the bend test. This phone has no moving parts, just one solid
hunk of glass, metal and plastic. And the whole contraption seems very heavy
and very solid, with only a slight bend during the flex, but with no creaks, snaps, kinks,
or cracks anywhere in the body, even when bent from both directions. I like where things are headed. This whole flagship phone with dual screens,
3D camera, headphone jack, and in-screen fingerprint scanner is still cheaper than Apple's budget
iPhone, the XR.

And Vivo's phone comes with double the internal
memory. Vivo's got my attention. I'm impressed and I'm excited to see what

One of the core features of the Pixel phones is what is being called the Google Assistant, an updated take on the Ok Google feature included with some of the newer Android phones.
